Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@northerngdrne.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

GDRNENC focuses on rescuing Great Danes in need. We primarily serve the New England states.

We operate through the donations of the public community.  We do not maintain any facility and are reliant on our fosters and volunteers to make all the magic happen!

Currently we only operate within the United States. Canada is an area close enough that we will work with a committed adopter if they are located in Canada.

In addition to whatever you may pay for the original cost of the Dane (be it direct buying or secondary adoption), you will incur additional costs in the following categories

  •  Monthly Food Costs (from $100 and up per month)
  • Monthly health maintenance -Heartworm medication, Flea and Tick management (from $40-$60)
  • Toys
  • Grooming - ($15-$90 dollars depending on services received)
  • Veterinary/Medications - If you end up with a medical dog of any kind, you could have specialty food or daily medications that the dog is required.  Any medication dispensed is based on weight, so a medication may cost an average dog owner $70, it could cost the Great Dane owner $200

The average lifespan for a Great Dane is much lower than a smaller or average sized animal. On average they live to be between 8-10 years old, some dying as early as 2 or 3 due to health issues, and others living till 12-14 years of age.
